Aims of the Religious Studies Department

Walhampton has a strong Christian tradition that the school upholds. We are also aware that we live in a multi- cultural society, and the teaching within Religious Studies reflects this.

  • The Religious Studies Department aims to equip pupils with a basic knowledge of religious faiths and a variety of skills that will help them throughout life.

  • We also aim to promote pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

  • We endeavor to promote empathy and tolerance for the beliefs of others and through this, we prepare children for the Common Entrance and Scholarship exams that they may take.

  • The Religious Studies Department aims to ensure learning is enjoyable, engaging and relevant, through a variety of well- planned and captivating lessons.
